Bunny Day was for racing at Baja MX, MichiganŐs eastside landmark Motocross facility that has been home to some of the fastest riders in the Michigan Mafia for the last 30 plus years. Jerry Lorenz was out front all weekend long and on day two of Baja MXŐs ŇEaster Break In eventÓ grabbing class wins in both the Open A and 14-24 class in an outstanding four win in four moto performance. Cody Mcculloch was also dominates in the Mini ranks lighting up both the 85 Sr. and SuperMini classes aboard his screaming yellow machines.

A field of ten left the Open A class starting line as the starter dropped the gate to the ground and it was full of fast talent. Lorenz is backed by Fenton Indoor MX, MCR Suspension, Keith Bowen, Yoshimura and Mom & Dad and there backing proved to be worthy as he was on top of his game. However he had to be as Scotty Thomason, Brett Crozier, Jason Quinn, Eric Miller and Billy Larsen all set off with hope of knocking Lorenz out of the top spot before the five laps of each moto were in the books. Thomason chased Lorenz but couldnŐt find the magic need to dethrone Lorenz (1-1) as he prepares the fast approaching the up Lucas Oil AMA Outdoor Pro Nationals. Thomason (2-2) has put in many a lap at Baja MX but on this day he would have to settle for the runner up spot in each moto as Lorenz was just not beatable on Easter Sunday. Quinn (3-4) had a good day at and placed his KX450 on the podium after crossing the line in third place in moto one. A fourth place finish in moto two was two points better than Austin Haught (4-5) who was fourth overall one spot ahead of Crozier (7-3) who found the speed to improve on his first moto seventh to round out the top five overall.

Mcculloch rounded turn one with a lead as the pack of hopped up minis gave chase. Mcculloch looked like the sand master as he was on the pegs on pipe throughout both SuperMini motos leading the way round the challenging track. Timmy Badour was also running a yellow machine and crossed the finish line in both SuperMini affairs in the runner up spot. Matt Klann put this Red Honda on the box in moto one using a good start to turn in a good finish. Bad luck struck Klann in moto two opening the door for Gavin Chin, who crossed the line in moto one on KlannŐs rear fender to better his score by one in moto two to lock down the last step on the podium behind Mcculloch and Badour.

It was a great opening weekend at Baja MX and things will surly keep rolling in the GLMX era. If your looking for big gates and tough competition. The Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifier at Baja MX is up next and will be one to attend May 2nd and 3rd.
