Many riders packed in
Big Air MX with the GLMX, Michigan Mafia Series Factory contingency money on
the line. Red, Yellow, Green and Blue, thousands of dollars were available for
the top riders sporting these colors as Big Air hosted the first of six
contingency races for the Michigan Mafia Series and Great Lakes Motocross
(GLMX). Contingency classes include: 125 B & C, 25+, 250 A, B & C, 30,
35+, 40+, 45+, 50 + and 60+, 85 (9-13), 85 JR (7-11), 85 SR (12-15), Open A, B
& C, Schoolboy 2 & 4 Stock, Super Mini, Women's Jr
& Sr.
One rider looking to
cash in on that money was Nick Vaughn. It was not going to be easy as top
riders like Josh Woods, Randy Woodring and Mitch Dervin also were out for the cash in the 25+ class. Vaughn was quick and consistent as he powered his 648
Kaw lap after lap to take (1-1) wins with Woods and Woodring
fighting for the final two podium positions.
The ageless John Grewe showed he still has what it take to walk away with
the cash as he took on Mr. MCR himself Matt Crown in the 35+ class. Grewe got the job done taking (1-1) moto
wins with Crown, Pagel taking the final two top
spots.
85 Jr class was double trouble for many riders as Roman Weltin, Bryce Weltin, Jodan Schaendorf and Mason Schaendorf were hoping that the blood would stick together
for the win. That didnŐt seems to bother Mitchell
Harrison as he was on fire! Mitchell checked out and cashed in at the end of
the day taking both moto wins with Nick Tomasunas and Matthew Carpenter topping off the class of
15.
WomenŐs Sr rider and 6 time Loretta Lynn qualifier Lindsey Scheltema stopped by to cash in as well. Miss Arenacross showed she is more than a cheerful, pretty face
as she took her BabbittŐs Kawasaki to the air for (1-1) wins with Krista Nelson
and Amber Prins taking podium positions as well.
Asa Vandermolen looked
very impressive in the 250 B class as he took the final podium position with
Erick Senk and Connor Buntin
taking 1st and 2nd.
Long time 85 rider Noah Markel is now on a bike that fits him, and what a
perfect fitÉ.wow! Already at the top of the 250 C
class Markel has got a handle on the power of the big four stroke and proves once
again Yamaha can be on top.
Little Air was packed
but no money for the little riders as they prefer the
big hardware any day. The 50 Trail class had 12 eager
little riders all wanting the win but Tucker Zacharda
took top honors with Ross Raatz and Caleb Schuring rounding out the top three. Herzhaft,
Schuring, Boyd, Sheldon, Martin, Klomp,
Hodges, Vodry and Neumann finished out the class.
